After the Bomb is a post apocalyptic role playing game by Erick Wujcik and published by Palladium Books for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness, based on the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic books by Peter Laird and Keven Eastman.
The world of After the Bomb has been destroyed by nuclear war and a genetically engineer virus. The virus has wiped out much of humanity and has uplifted many animals. Player Characters are mutated animals given human traits such as bipedalism, hands, and intelligence. Mutations also include psionic powers.
The system uses eight stats generated by 3d6. Players pick or randomly determine an animal to play. Each animal has a number of Bio-E points to spend to buy mutations. Combat is resolved by rolling a d20 to hit. Skills are percentile based.
Using After the Bomb with Mutant Future[]
A number of rules can easily be added to a Mutant Future game from After the bomb.
There are seven 1d100 charts for determining the type of animal a player is. This could easily be used for Mutant Animal characters. Additionally there is a table for fur pattern and color that could be used.
There is a table of nine backgrounds that could be added to any Mutant Future character. The backgrounds tie into the skill system. The skill system is a roll under percentile system which can easily be added to Mutant Future. Further more there are nine apprenticeships which can be used to help define a character or pick skills if the skill system is going to be used.
There are 33 psionic powers which could easily be changed into Mental Mutations.
There are 52 mutant animal powers which could be added to Physical Mutations. A few of these would overlap with existing mutations.
The setting of After the Bomb is not too different from Mutant Future and would not be difficult to use.
